Prenatal Massage:
What is prenatal massage?
Massage during pregnancy is therapeutic bodywork which focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of pregnancy. Massage therapy enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and general body tone, and relieves mental and physical fatigue.

Is Prenatal Massage For You?
I specialize in calm, soothing, relaxing massage. The most effective guide for determining proper pressure is open communication. Many pillows are used to insure comfort throughout the entire process. I make sure that the mother is not exposed other then the limbs that I am working on.

In my practice, I have found that my pregnant clients appreciate their massage therapy appointments because they know relief is at hand. They look forward to their weekly appointments to ease recurring problems, such as sciatica, leg cramps, back and round ligament pain.

I hope pregnancy massage eases any discomfort you may be feeling, too. Enjoy some bodywork soon!

Prenatal Craniosacral Therapy:

A woman experiences dramatic changes in her body and in her relationships during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum recovery. Craniosacral Therapy (CST) effectively addresses the concerns and discomforts arising from these changes.

Touch is vital to the mother's psychological, physiological and spiritual well being as she adapts to the experience and demands of pregnancy and new motherhood. Studies show that mothers who receive loving touch during their pregnancies are better able to provide loving touch to their newborn infants.

Prenatal Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

A prenatal CST session is a special time for a mother to get in touch with her body and growing baby.

CST helps rebalance both the energy and physical body. It relieves the effects of daily stress and the residual body-memories of past emotional and physical trauma. This helps the mother-to-be and the baby prepare for the birth together.

An important goal of a pregnancy CST session is to gently improve mobility in the mother’s pelvis so her baby can more easily assume an ideal position for birth. This can promote a timely, easier birth for mom and baby.

What to Expect
• A safe, private room, soft music and a nest of pillows and cushions ready to support a pregnant or postpartum body on the bodywork table. Session does not require disrobing.

Postpartum Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

The attention that a mother receives during pregnancy is often withdrawn and transferred to the baby after the birth. It is important for the new mother to continue to be nurtured when most of her energy is spent nurturing a new baby. It is beneficial for the whole family when a new mother receives focused attention just for her.

A postpartum treatment focuses on structural realignment of the spine and pelvis and rehabilitation of the muscles overworked or weakened during pregnancy. It facilitates healing, especially for mothers who have had cesarean births.

Postpartum CST also addresses the new body discomforts associated with the carrying and care of a newborn infant. It includes instruction in the proper use of body mechanics for these new activities.

A woman who has experienced a complicated birth may feel traumatized. She may grieve the loss of the birth experience she had planned for herself. Postpartum CST helps the new mother process and integrate her birth experience in a way that is physically and emotionally healthy.
